Just a few days after being suddenly fired by Roma, Jose Mourinho made noise again when he was cleared to lead Barca, Real’s great rival, where Mourinho once worked as head coach.
Jose Mourinho took over Roma in 2021 and led the team to win the Europa Conference League in his first season there. However, the 60-year-old teacher was fired as Roma coach and replaced by former Roma captain Daniel De Rossi. This is the 6th dismissal in the career of “The Special One”, after previous dismissals at Tottenham, MU, Chelsea and Real Madrid.
The name Jose Mourinho is now being mentioned a lot thanks to a shocking move from his agent, the notorious “super agent” Jorge Mendes. According to Spanish newspaper El Nacional, Mendes contacted Barca to introduce Mourinho as a potential replacement for Xavi on the hot seat here, once Xavi is fired by Barca. According to Mendes, Mourinho has the advantage of having a past relationship with Barca when working under Sir Bobby Robson. In addition, Mourinho also has the ability to “arrange order in the dressing room” at any team he has led.
Need to know more, Barca president Joan Laporta may consider bringing someone else to replace coach Xavi if Barca does not improve its ranking in La Liga or loses to Napoli in the Champions League. Potential candidates to replace Xavi include Xavi’s former Barca teammates Thiago Motta and Rafa Marquez.
