Third Round Draw for Carabao Cup: Arsenal and Man Utd Get Easier Ties, Liverpool Faces Tough Opponent

In the third round of the Carabao Cup 2024/25, the major teams have largely been drawn against weaker sides. However, Liverpool is set to face a Premier League opponent, West Ham United.

On the evening of August 28, the Football Association of England conducted the draw for the third round of the Carabao Cup 2024/25, featuring 32 clubs.

In this round, no major teams such as Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Tottenham, or Manchester United were drawn against each other.

However, as the defending champions, Liverpool will face what is considered the toughest opponent of the big clubs. They will play against West Ham, a fellow Premier League team, and it will be a significant challenge for manager Arne Slot and his squad in their quest to retain the Carabao Cup title.

While Liverpool is expected to face difficulties against West Ham, the other teams in the ‘Big 6’ have been drawn against relatively weaker opponents in the third round of the Carabao Cup 2024/25.

Manchester City will play Watford, who are currently in the Championship. Arsenal will face Bolton from League One, Manchester United will play Barnsley, also from League One, Chelsea will take on Barrow from League Two, and Tottenham will face Coventry City from the Championship.

The third round of the Carabao Cup 2024/25, featuring 16 matchups, will be held on September 16 and September 23. Notably, most of the big clubs will play on September 16, while the Chelsea versus Barrow match is scheduled for September 23.
