Another Player to Depart Manchester City

Before the summer transfer window for 2024 closes, Manchester City is set to part ways with young talent Issa Kabore.

The 23-year-old right-back from Burkina Faso will join Benfica on a season-long loan, just before the transfer window shuts on Friday.

The deal will be in effect until June next year, but there will be no option for Benfica to purchase Kabore permanently once the loan term ends.

To facilitate the loan agreement, the Portuguese club has agreed to cover the entire salary of the 23-year-old player, relieving Manchester City of that financial responsibility. This move provides Kabore with an excellent opportunity to gain experience and improve his skills, potentially positioning him for future inclusion in Manchester City’s first team.

Kabore joined Manchester City in 2020 from Belgian side Mechelen for a fee of around £5.5 million, but he has yet to make a competitive appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Over the past four years, Manchester City has loaned Kabore out to Troyes, Marseille, and Luton Town to gain match experience and develop his abilities.

Last season, Kabore made 24 Premier League appearances for Luton, in addition to 2 Carabao Cup matches. In his role as a defender, Kabore impressed with his attacking contributions, providing 2 assists in the Premier League.
