Jadon Sancho Reaches Agreement with New Club, Not Chelsea

Manchester United has finally agreed to let Jadon Sancho leave, but his new destination is not Stamford Bridge.

United paid £73 million to sign Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, but the winger failed to make a significant impact at Old Trafford. After two underwhelming seasons and a fallout with manager Erik ten Hag, Sancho was loaned back to Dortmund in January.

Upon returning to Germany, Sancho appeared to regain his form, helping Dortmund reach the Champions League final. Last month, Ten Hag stated that he had set aside his differences with Sancho and was open to reintegrating the 24-year-old into the first team ahead of the 2024/25 season.

However, this prospect seemed unlikely after Sancho was omitted from United’s squad for the first two games of the new season. Despite his struggles in Manchester, Sancho attracted interest from Chelsea, who wanted to sign him as a replacement for Raheem Sterling, who was deemed unsuitable for new manager Enzo Maresca’s plans.

Sterling was reportedly ready to accept an offer from United, which would have opened up the possibility for Chelsea to pursue Sancho. However, United has now reached an agreement with a different club. According to RMC Sport, United has struck a deal with Serie A club Juventus to loan Sancho for the current season, with an option to complete the transfer next summer.

This agreement will see Sancho play under the guidance of Thiago Motta at Juventus, a team currently leading Serie A after two games. Juventus had long been rumored to be interested in signing the United star. Sancho’s time at Manchester United will end with 83 appearances and 12 goals, as he prepares to continue his career in Italy this season.
