Julian Alvarez Shares His Reason for Leaving Man City for Atletico Madrid

Forward Julian Alvarez has explained his decision to leave Manchester City for Atletico Madrid this summer.

Man City acquired Alvarez from River Plate for just €20 million, but despite his role as a backup at the Etihad, they earned €95 million from selling the Argentine to Atletico Madrid.

Alvarez is expected to significantly strengthen Atletico’s attacking options, especially as the Madrid side aims to compete for major trophies. During his time at Man City, Alvarez won both the Premier League and the Champions League. He also achieved international success with Argentina, winning both the World Cup and the Copa America.

The 24-year-old made his debut for Atletico Madrid as a substitute in a 2-2 draw against Villarreal, and has since been a regular starter in matches against Girona and Espanyol.

Recently, Alvarez shared his reasons for leaving Manchester and joining Atletico Madrid. He said: “As I’ve mentioned, I felt it was time for a change in my career. I needed to seek new challenges and believe that Atletico offers me the tools to fully showcase my abilities.

This is a club with great ambitions. I spoke with the coach and believe that together we can bring the team to new heights. He mentioned that I would help the team and that they would build on my strengths while helping me improve on my weaknesses.

My goal is to perform at my best, contribute to the team’s success, and help Atletico reach its highest potential.”
