Coach Erik ten Hag welcomes new signing Manuel Ugarte to his first training session with Manchester United with a bold message.
The Red Devils of Manchester have had a bustling summer transfer window, and among the new arrivals, Ugarte is a standout addition that fans have been eagerly anticipating. The Uruguayan midfielder joined Old Trafford from PSG for an initial fee of €50 million plus €10 million in add-ons.
On his first day at the club, the 23-year-old was greeted by Coach Ten Hag, who led him to a wall with the slogan “United & Fight” in the background for a photo opportunity. The two new colleagues warmly shook hands and chatted amicably.
Later, the Dutch manager addressed the media, who were capturing this special moment, while pointing at the wall, saying: “This is great because this fantastic guy brings us the fight.”
Initially, the former PSG star seemed a bit confused and unsure of his new coach’s intent. However, after a few moments of hesitation, Ugarte broke into a bright smile and responded: “It is an honor to fight!”
Manchester United’s start to the 2024/25 season has been nightmarish, despite bolstering their squad. They have lost 2 of their first 3 Premier League games, including a dismal defeat to arch-rivals Liverpool last Sunday. Playing at home at Old Trafford with the support of their passionate fans, Ten Hag’s side was beaten 3-0, including some costly mistakes from Casemiro.
With Ugarte’s arrival, Manchester United hopes to strengthen their midfield with more steel and stability. The Uruguayan newcomer could make his Premier League debut on September 14 when the Red Devils visit Southampton.
